{ pikes place meets the white house } flowers for a wedding at The Nixon Library in Yorba Linda

As I spied Ashley walking in the door I thought to myself  ‘this is going to be interesting’. She had 2 huge bundles of dried flowers, a couple of books and a few odd brass pieces. She said I don’t know what we can do with these but I bought 25 of them in Washington. And I said Oh my gosh at Pikes Place in Seattle? Yes and we were off on the great adventure that would be Pikes Place meets the East Room at the White House  (for those of you who didn’t know The Nixon Library’s ballroom is an exact replica of the East Room in the White House).
If you have ever been to the Pikes Place market you can picture bundles of dried flowers hanging up all around the market. When I was their a few years ago in the spring it was one of the things I was most fascinated by in this awesome market. That and the incredible asters and tulips and delphinium and all the florals of Washington. I could see a snapshot of it all in my head and my brain was on overload. Fast forward to 6 months later on a dewy late summer morning with the band playing James Taylor (yes a live band playing James Taylor at a wedding never seen it before but let me tell you it was magical) in the background and my dream wedding became a reality. This is just a great wedding….the venue, the people, the attire….
The first pictures are from Joel at Studio EMP and he just out did himself. He really was just the absolute beyond perfect photographer to capture the unique vibe of this wedding. Just simply stunning images from Studio EMP!!!!

Just simply stunning images from Studio EMP!!!! Below are the non professional pics taken by my wonderful apprentice who knows more about weddings than me Anni.

Each table had a unique tablescape of books and brass crystal.  We did half of the 25 tables in the lighter and used a lot of the dried flowers. For the other half we used we used vibrant fresh florals with hints of  the dried. Most of the florals came from the northwest. Ashley’s favorite dahlias from Oregon and thistle and asters and a lot of the foliages from Washington.
