{ big modern purple greek wedding } Vassoula’s Anaheim wedding flowers

When I changed the name of the blog to Flower Allie Style it was with thoughts of conveying the diversity of our weddings. What really sets us apart from other florists is that we don’t have a signature style. At Flower Allie our brides style is our style. I thought about this a lot as I looked through these pictures today. Vassoula came to me for her wedding because I had done her sister and many of her friends weddings and I think in all honesty she felt a little stuck with me. She wanted her wedding to be modern and unique and glamorous and purple, purple, purple. I will admit I wasn’t a purple wedding person a year ago when Vassoula and I first met. And I will also admit I just hadn’t figured out how to do the new purple. I kept having flashbacks of ugly victorian lilac roses from the purple trend of 2002.

Vassoula had a lot of ideas and because it isn’t everyday that you see giant alliums in purple water the vision wasn’t just sitting on every blog in town like many brides visions.. Vassoula had visions and then wanted to see them and let me tell you that gets expensive (for me) and is also pretty much impossible because a vase of purple water sitting on a table cloth with no silverware, no chairs and no lighting just doesn’t look anything like what this vase will become on the wedding day. In the months leading up to Vassoulas wedding I was getting more and more purple wedding experience every week and by the time of her wedding in June Flower Allie had done almost 20 purple weddings . Now I too had visions of Vassoulas wedding in my head and could finally see them coming together. At this point my only problem was to get them to come together in budget. As luck would have it giant purple alliums are only $3.00 each in June and peonies are $2.00. So we used a little more of these and a little less orchids and lots of candles and the $ problem was solved.

I still was slightly anxious about it all coming together. My staff went ahead to start filling the 100’s of vases with purple water and by the time I got there all the vases were on the table and I could see Vassoulas vision coming to life. As the day progressed and the chairs, dance floor and lighting were brought in I began to swoon. I am sure Vassoula felt the same way when she walked in the room. Adrienne Gunde captured it perfectly through her lense. Click here to see more of the wedding.
